NEET/AIIMS - PCB Stream

NEET Examination Information
NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam is an Indian Entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for students who want to pursue medical (including dental)courses both at graduate and post graduate levels viz. MBBS and BDS run by both private and government colleges across the country. The exam is one tier based one that is held once in a year usually in the month of May. Since 2016, the AIPMT(All India Pre-Medical Test) has been replaced by the NEET exam. India’s Supreme Court has ordered that from the year 2017 the NEET scores would be the sole criteria used for admissions to colleges across the country for MBBS and BDS admissions. It would be beneficial for the candidates if they would be able to prepare for this exam as per the demands of the NEET syllabus. As per the recommendation of the Medical Council of India(MCI), the syllabus for NEET 2017 would be mainly drawn from chapters and topics from class XI to Class XII that would be at the higher secondary level. The MCI formed the syllabus for NEET after reviewing the syllabus of state boards and central boards like CBSE, NCERT and so on to ensure uniformity for different areas in the medical education provided in our country.

 Biology
As we are aware of the fact that, the subject biology has been divided into two parts viz. Botany and Zoology, let us have a look at the syllabus for both of them in the table below in a combined format.
Sl.No11th Standard12th Standard
1.Human PhysiologyBiotechnology and its applications
2.Cell Structure and functionBiology and Human Welfare
3.Plant PhysiologyEcology and Environment
4.Diversity in Living WorldReproduction
5.Structural Organisation in Animals and PlantsGenetics and Evolution

From the figures given below, we could say that for physics, the most number of questions came from Mechanics which was around 14 and the least was from the section named waves  which had only 3 questions. In the case of Chemistry, the most number of questions came from Physical section of Class XII syllabus and the least were from Organic for class XII and Physical from Class XI with 6 questions each. Finally Biology which has two divisions which are none other than Botany and Zoology in which the former had most number of questions from Ecology with 11 ones and the least number was for the section named Biology in human welfare with just 1 question and also for zoology, Human Physiology had a total number of 11 questions and Animal Tissues had just 1 question only.
